Bernal builds search intelligence for subscription media. Beyond search, we are working on an idea we call the autonomous second self: a companion that reads each person’s intent and anticipates what they need. It uses only data the person has agreed to share, respects data-protection rules, and begins by offering suggestions. It is still at the idea stage. At the moment the founder develops the product personally. We would like to welcome the people who will build it with us.
Who we would like to meet
We have no fixed openings yet. We would like to start by talking with people like these.
Someone who can take over the whole system
A person who can get to know the architecture, codebase and data design the founder is building, and carry out design reviews and improvements together.
Someone who can handle incidents and operations
A person who can isolate the cause of an incident from logs and metrics, restore service, and prevent it from happening again.
Someone who can design and operate servers and databases
A person experienced in designing and operating servers and databases, who can store and aggregate search logs securely and keep the service available and performant.

CTO
Someone who sets the technical strategy and is responsible for the whole system. When a serious incident or a design problem arises, they make the final call and deal with it. We welcome someone who can talk about technology and business in English.
CFO
Someone who handles fundraising, finance and business planning, and is responsible for the company’s numbers.
What we value
We value the same outlook in people who do the day-to-day work and in people who lead the company. Not everyone needs to aim for an executive role.

Nationality and language
Nationality does not matter. At present we work in Japanese only, but alongside building our business in Japan we aim to reach English-speaking and multilingual markets, so we welcome people with excellent English who can judge the nuance of a phrase.
